Keeping your computer free from spyware with Spybot
Open Spybot
You can find the program by clicking:
Windows Start Button → All Programs → Spybot Search & Destroy → Spybot Search & Destroy
Once Spybot is open, you will see the following screen:

Spybot will take a few seconds to take stock of your system's susceptible files and compile a list, ready for immunization.
Once this is complete, click on the 'Immunize' button to begin protecting your system.

When the immunization process has finished, click on the 'Search & Destroy' button to return to Spybot's main screen.

From here, click 'Check for problems' to begin scanning your computer for Spyware and Adware infections.

The Spybot -Search & Destroy scan should take between ten and fifteen minutes. During this time it will keep you informed of any problems it finds.

When the scan is complete, all problems are listed and ticked ready for deletion by default. Click on the 'Fix selected problems' button to delete these security threats from your computer once and for all.

Once Spybot has dealt with all the threats discovered on your system, it will display each item with a large green tick, to signify that this has been dealt with. You may now exit the program.
Remember that your computer should be scanned on a regular basis (at least once per week), especially if you use the internet frequently.
